NOT FLAWLESS is a celebration of creative risks. It is working with freedom, going out on a limb and allowing yourself to be reckless. The pursuit of perfection can prevent us from completing a task. ‘NOT FLAWLESS’ presents us with the concept that creativity can come from mistakes and that the final work can surprise us. It doesn’t need to be FLAWLESS, it just needs to be a working, useable tool and from that you can find beauty. In traditional Japanese aesthetics, Wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. In ‘NOT FLAWLESS’ we see each artist paring down to the essence of their work and presenting a beauty that is accomplished through that very freedom.
